The above painting, done entirely in Photoshop and Painter, was inspired by J.W.Waterhouse's "Hylas and the Nymphs" - I like the idea of sirens.

Below is my personal story and long-term project, “The Popes.” In essence, it is a ghost story set in Victorian San Francisco that focuses on a family struggling to stay together across the barrier of Death. Two young teenagers – responsible Geneva and her brother James - are orphaned when their mother Georgiana is the victim of a murder/suicide by a violently jealous suitor. Their mother refuses to pass on however, determined to raise her children. Daily life becomes more interesting, and complicated, by the new supernatural elements. And it seems Georgiana’s enemy isn’t as dead as he ought to be either. And what’s more, he has gained a powerful ally.

This story started as I was walking across a windy street in Nob Hill one day as I was on my way back from class. The SF wind lifted my hair a bit, and it got me to thinking about floating hair. That image stayed with me, and I began to wonder what kind of story a woman might have that would include floating hair. I began to imagine a woman murdered by drowning, and the character of Georgiana began to grow. Since the whole structure of the story is built around Georgiana, she is the anchor of it. But as I began to develop further I realized that I was equally as interested in how the lives of her teenage children would be affected by having a ghost for a mother.
